Build, Test and Explain in English with LEGO®

A hands-on programme where children discover science, solve challenges, and build the confidence to communicate their ideas in English.

English with LEGO®
Learn English by doing

Where language learning meets real discovery

English with LEGO® combines the LEGO® Education Science curriculum with CEC’s 30 years of English teaching experience. Children work in groups to build models, run experiments, make observations, and discuss what they discover.

Instead of memorising words in isolation, students use English to solve meaningful STEM challenges. Every lesson follows a powerful cycle: Build → Test → Explain in English.

  • Native English-speaking instructors
  • Practical science vocabulary learned in context
  • Hands-on models, experiments, and team challenges
  • English communication and scientific thinking developed together
Learning outcomes

Skills children can use beyond the classroom

By the end of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Use key science vocabulary and terminology in English
  • Explain the models they build and describe experiment or observation results in English
  • Communicate their own ideas, predictions, and hypotheses in English
  • Work collaboratively with peers to solve STEM challenges
  • Build confidence through the Build → Test → Explain in English cycle

Purposeful English

Children use English to ask questions, describe results, and share ideas — not simply complete worksheets.

Hands-On STEM

Building and testing make science concepts visible, memorable, and exciting for young learners.

Problem-Solving Skills

Every challenge encourages children to predict, experiment, improve, and explain their reasoning.

Teamwork & Confidence

Small-group collaboration helps children listen, contribute, and speak with growing confidence.

40 lessons · 4 domains

A complete science journey in English

Children explore engineering, living things, our planet, and the physical world through ten lessons in each domain.

Domain 1

Engineering, Technology & Applications

Students are presented with a problem or scenario and work towards a solution. They practise problem-solving, testing, improving prototypes, and explaining their answers in English.

Featured lessons

Truck Rally · Legs for Fetch · Turning Towers · plus 7 more lessons

Key vocabulary

structure · load · friction · stability · pulley · lever · prototype · iterate

Domain 2

Life Sciences

Using LEGO® to build models of animals and plants, students explore life on Earth and understand how organisms live, survive, and behave.

Featured lessons

From Egg to What · Protect Baby Elephant · Spot the Bug · plus 7 more lessons

Key vocabulary

life cycle · survival · camouflage · habitat · adaptation · predator · natural selection

Domain 3

Earth & Space Sciences

Students investigate earthquakes, weather, the environment, and space. Their designs and models show how events can affect Earth and the communities on it.

Featured lessons

Fossil Detective · Lemonade Shake · Desert Island Community · plus 7 more lessons

Key vocabulary

gravity · propulsion · precipitation · water cycle · conservation · orbit

Domain 4

Physical Science

Children explore energy, motion, and matter. The models they build demonstrate how these ideas connect and influence one another in real situations.

Featured lessons

Energy Racer · Down With Gravity · Disco Snail · plus 7 more lessons

Key vocabulary

vibration · reflection · refraction · energy transfer · chain reaction · sound wave
