Canadian Education College Pte. Ltd. ("CEC", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting the personal data of our students, prospective students, parents, employees and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights you have. It is designed to comply with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 ("PDPA") and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and other equivalent international privacy laws.

Canadian Education College Pte. Ltd. is a Private Education Institution registered with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) in Singapore. Registered address: 360 Orchard Road, International Building #04-07/08, Singapore 238869.

2. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal data:

• Identity & contact data: name, date of birth, nationality, passport / NRIC number, photograph, address, email, phone, country of residence, emergency contact.
• Academic data: educational qualifications, transcripts, English level test results, course enrolment history, attendance, assessment scores.
• Financial data: billing address, payment-card details (processed by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers), invoice and refund records.
• Immigration data (for international students): Student Pass / visa application details required by Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
• Marketing & communication data: consultation requests, enquiry forms, newsletter subscriptions, communication preferences.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URL, cookies and similar tracking technologies.

3. How we collect personal data

We collect personal data when you:

• Submit our enquiry, contact, or level-test booking forms
• Book a free consultation through Calendly or other scheduling tools
• Enrol in a course or apply for a Student Pass through CEC
• Communicate with us by phone, email, WhatsApp, or other messaging services
• Browse our website (via cookies and analytics tools)
• Attend events, open houses, or trial lessons

4. Purposes for which we use your personal data

We use personal data only for purposes that are legitimate and clearly notified to you, including:

• Responding to enquiries and scheduling consultations or level tests
• Assessing your eligibility and processing your enrolment
• Delivering courses, conducting assessments, and issuing certificates
• Applying for or renewing your Student Pass with ICA (international students)
• Processing payments, refunds, and managing financial records
• Complying with regulatory obligations (CPE, ICA, tax authorities)
• Sending course updates, newsletters, and marketing communications (only with your consent — you may opt out at any time)
• Improving our website, services, and student experience
• Protecting CEC's rights, property, and the safety of our students and staff

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: (a) consent — for marketing communications and certain cookies; (b) contract — to deliver the course you have enrolled in; (c) legal obligation — for regulatory compliance with CPE, ICA and tax authorities; and (d) legitimate interests — to improve our services, prevent fraud, and protect our institution.

6. How we share personal data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• Government authorities in Singapore (CPE, ICA, MOE, IRAS) where required by law
• Accrediting bodies such as London Teacher Training College (LTTC) for TESOL grading, or the British Council for IELTS test registration
• Trusted service providers who process data on our behalf — including web hosting, scheduling (Calendly), email delivery, payment processing, and analytics
• Insurance and Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) providers as required by CPE
• Professional advisors (lawyers, auditors, accountants) on a need-to-know basis

All third-party service providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your personal data and use it only for the purposes we instruct.

7. International data transfers

If we transfer personal data outside of Singapore (or, for EU residents, outside of the EEA), we will ensure that the recipient provides a comparable standard of data protection — including through Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards required by the GDPR or PDPA.

8. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to provide essential functionality, remember your preferences, and analyse site traffic. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not function properly if you do.

9. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, or as required by law. For example: enrolment and academic records are retained for the duration required by CPE regulations; tax and financial records are retained for at least 5 years; marketing data is retained until you withdraw consent.

• Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
• Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements (GDPR / equivalent)

• Data portability — receive your data in a portable format (GDPR)
• Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority (in Singapore, the PDPC; in the EU, your local DPA)

11. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
